PROFFESIONAL PORTFOLIO
Degree Investigation | Universidad de Costa Rica, 2018.
By their nature, position, form and size, airports have been considered strange objects within the panorama and planning of San José City. Difficult and complex in their composition, they represent a challenge in the intention of integrating them with their immediate city context.
Immersed in the dynamics of globalization and the fast world, airport platforms are playing a very important role in the attraction of real estate development and movement trends of current urban dynamics, generating a new form of city, characterized by a high saturation and convulsion. Juan Santamaría International Airport has been made invisible and removed from the reality of its city, in a disconnection that affects both the urban functioning, the conditions of competitiveness of the country in the global environment and the quality of life of the inhabitants of the region. The airport has a potential not yet explored or exploited.
